November Challenge: Week 3

As previously posted we are currently challenging ourselves to only spending $20 a week so we can save up to pay for BJ to take a seminary class starting next month. I have moved our weekly update to my new blog: simplesavingsmom.blogspot.com. I started this to help me be accountable in our monthly family expenditures as well as a resource for others who are trying to help their families save money. Please check it out. This is the latest update here.

November Challenge: Week 1 and 2

Week 1: We spent $19 this week. The breakdown was $4 at the grocery store. $11 on Christmas presents at the mall. $4 at Target ($2 on 4 tubs of wipes and $2 from the dollar section).

Week 2: I spent $17 today at the grocery store. I was able to get a couple of freebies and all of the items had coupons. The original total was $68 and with store sales and coupons it was brought down to $17, a savings of 76%. This is a picture of purchases I made today. This was a great shopping experience and if you know us then you know we have college students all the time at our house so we will have lots of brownies and chocolate chip goodies for them(and us too)!

November Challenge

In the month of November I am going to challenge myself to spend only $20 a week on groceries and necessities. In early December BJ is trying to start taking a seminary class which we don't have money for in our budget currently but we have a little money from rebates and consignment we can use. This little amount won't meet our need so I decided to see if we could live on what we have in the pantry, freezer, and current household stockpile and only spend $20 a week, that would free up more money for his class. This will be a challenge but I am looking forward to being creative and seeing the Lord provide. So starting on Monday we will do this for the next four weeks and I will be updating week to week. The Lord has been so good in providing ways for us to cut our food and household costs. I am looking forward to what is next!
